Overview
Market Research Agent
Structured competitive intelligence and market research for digital experience (DX) strategy engagements. Designed for RBA strategists who need evidence-grounded, cited research — not generic summaries — when running platform-selection, pre-envision, business development, or client advisory work.
What's in the bundle
| Artifact | What it does |
|---|---|
competitor-teardown skill |
End-to-end competitor teardown: stack detection (Wappalyzer/BuiltWith signals), heuristic/UX review against Nielsen's 10 heuristics, SEO performance snapshot, content strategy read, digital maturity scoring, and a structured findings brief |
five-forces-analysis skill |
Porter's Five Forces adapted for digital markets — quantifies competitive rivalry, new-entrant threat, supplier/buyer power, and substitution risk; includes a DXP/CMS lens for platform-selection contexts |
market-sizing skill |
TAM/SAM/SOM sizing with cited sources; runs both top-down (analyst reports) and bottom-up (addressable account estimation) models and compares convergence |
seo-content-gap skill |
SEO and content gap analysis: keyword overlap, topic authority gaps, backlink delta, AI-search visibility (ChatGPT/Perplexity citations), and a prioritized gap register |
digital-maturity-benchmark skill |
Scores a client or competitor's digital maturity across six dimensions — experience, content, data/personalization, commerce, cloud/infra, and accessibility — against an RBA baseline and industry quartiles |
market-research-reviewer agent |
Independent critical reviewer — checks citations, logical leaps, and claim strength across any market research deliverable before it goes to a client or VP |
/research-market command |
Entry-point shortcut that routes to the right skill based on what you hand it |
When to use
- Platform-selection engagements — benchmark a client's current DXP against Sitecore, Optimizely, and Umbraco competitors before recommending a migration path
- Pre-envision and discovery — ground the strategy in a market-level view of where the client sits relative to sector peers
- Business development — produce a rapid competitor landscape for a prospect meeting or RFP response
- Client advisory — answer "how do we compare to [competitor]?" with a structured, cited analysis rather than a PowerPoint opinion
- Content/SEO strategy — identify the topics and formats competitors own that the client does not yet cover
Platform adapter note
Every skill in this bundle is platform-agnostic. Stack detection surfaces whatever the competitor is running (Sitecore, Optimizely, Umbraco, WordPress, AEM, Contentful, Salesforce Commerce, etc.) and the RBA strategist decides what it means for the engagement. Platform-specific recommendations are flagged as adapter notes, not hardcoded conclusions.
How to install
claude plugin install market-research-agent@rba-ai-hub
After install, skills appear in /skills/, the reviewer agent in /agents/, and the /research-market command is available immediately.
Permissions required
Skills in this bundle perform web lookups on publicly accessible URLs. Network access is scoped to specific intelligence domains (SimilarWeb, SEMrush public pages, BuiltWith, Wappalyzer lookup, Common Crawl). No credentials, API keys, or authenticated sessions are required for the core workflows — skills surface where a paid tool seat would deepen the analysis without requiring it.

Bundled artifacts
Skills
- competitor-teardown — Produces a structured competitor teardown brief covering technology stack detection, heuristic/UX review (Nielsen 10), SEO snapshot, content strategy read, and a digital maturity score. Apply when a user provides a competitor domain or name and asks for a competitor analysis, teardown, audit, or platform read. Works for any sector; surfaces platform-specific implications when Sitecore, Optimizely, Umbraco, or composable DXP signals appear. Skip when the user wants only a Five Forces analysis (use five-forces-analysis), only an SEO gap (use seo-content-gap), or only a maturity benchmark (use digital-maturity-benchmark).
- digital-maturity-benchmark — Scores a client's (or competitor's) digital maturity across six dimensions — experience design, content operations, data/personalization, commerce capability, cloud/infrastructure, and accessibility — against an RBA baseline and inferred sector quartiles. Produces a scored benchmark report with evidence citations and a prioritized improvement roadmap. Apply when a user asks for a digital maturity assessment, maturity scoring, benchmark, or "where does the client sit vs. sector peers?". Works as a standalone engagement or as a companion to competitor-teardown. Skip when the user wants a competitor teardown (use competitor-teardown) or a full SEO/content gap analysis (use seo-content-gap).
- five-forces-analysis — Applies Porter's Five Forces adapted for digital markets — competitive rivalry, threat of new entrants, supplier power, buyer power, and threat of substitutes — with a DXP/CMS lens for platform-selection and market-entry contexts. Apply when a user asks for a Five Forces analysis, industry/market structure assessment, or competitive landscape framing. Produces a scored, cited brief with strategic implications for RBA's client. Skip when the user wants a single-competitor teardown (use competitor-teardown) or a market sizing exercise (use market-sizing).
- market-sizing — Produces a cited TAM/SAM/SOM market sizing model using both top-down (analyst reports, industry data) and bottom-up (addressable account estimation) approaches. Compares convergence between methods and delivers a model with labeled assumptions. Apply when a user asks to size a market, calculate TAM/SAM/SOM, or estimate addressable opportunity for a client, vertical, or platform. Skip when the user wants a Five Forces structural analysis (use five-forces-analysis) or a competitor teardown (use competitor-teardown).
- seo-content-gap — Produces a prioritized SEO and content gap register by comparing a client domain against 2–5 competitor domains: keyword overlap, topic authority gaps, backlink delta, Core Web Vitals comparison, and AI-search visibility (ChatGPT/Perplexity citation signals). Apply when a user asks for a content gap analysis, keyword gap, SEO competitor comparison, or "what topics do we not own that competitors do?". Skip when the user wants a full competitor teardown (use competitor-teardown) or a market sizing exercise (use market-sizing).
Agents
- market-research-reviewer — Independent critical reviewer for market research deliverables produced by the market-research-agent plugin. Invoke after producing a competitor teardown, Five Forces analysis, market sizing model, SEO/content gap register, or digital maturity benchmark to check citation quality, logical leaps, claim strength, and presentation-readiness before the output goes to a client or senior stakeholder.
Slash Commands
- /research-market — Entry-point shortcut for the market-research-agent plugin. Routes to the right skill based on what you hand it — a competitor domain, a market name, a client + competitor pair, or a maturity assessment request. Run with no arguments for a guided intake prompt.
