The RBA Way
RBA Consulting (est. 2006, Wayzata, MN) is a digital consulting agency. Across more than 1,500 client engagements, we’ve built up a body of methods — how we approach research, how we scaffold a Sitecore site, how we run an accessibility audit, how we frame a project for a regulated client. RBA Skills is the place those methods live as installable tooling, so every team member has access to them the moment they need them.
What the catalog is trying to do
Section titled “What the catalog is trying to do”A few problems we kept seeing in pre-AI work:
- A new hire arrives. There’s six months of “how we do things” tucked into senior engineers’ heads, half-finished Confluence pages, and old project repos.
- A senior delivers great work — but only on the projects they personally touch. Everyone else has to either reinvent the pattern or pull them onto the engagement.
- Tools change every quarter. The methods don’t — they outlive any specific AI tool, IDE, or platform.
Encoding RBA’s collective methods as skills, agents, MCP integrations, and hooks means a junior on day three can ship work that follows the same approach a senior would have used. It’s not “AI replacing judgment”; it’s “AI making judgment portable.”
Facets, mapped to real work
Section titled “Facets, mapped to real work”Plugins aren’t sorted into a single hierarchy — each one is described by a handful of optional facets so you can find what you need along whichever axis matters to your work.
Platform
Section titled “Platform”Vendor- or product-specific bundles. The plugin only makes sense when you’re working in that stack. RBA’s platform plugins reflect RBA’s actual partner ecosystem:
- Sitecore — Gold Partner, hundreds of implementations from XP through XM Cloud
- Umbraco — Platinum Partner, full lifecycle from v7 legacy through v13+ headless
- Optimizely — CMS, commerce, and content marketing platform delivery
- Microsoft Azure — cloud infrastructure, DevOps, integration, and AI services
A skill in the sitecore plugin encodes the RBA way of doing it in Sitecore, not Sitecore’s generic documentation. The pattern is hard-won — by senior engineers who learned what works in practice, not just what works in theory.
Discipline
Section titled “Discipline”How a specific role does its job day-to-day. The frontend engineer, the BA, the accessibility specialist, the PM, the security analyst — each has plugins that capture the methods their discipline uses repeatedly, regardless of platform or project shape.
RBA delivers across engineering, design, strategy, business analysis, project management, security & compliance, and architecture — and there’s a plugin per discipline.
Outcome
Section titled “Outcome”Shaped by a deliverable or measurable result. Not “frontend” or “Sitecore” but “ship a site that loads fast and ranks well” or “pass an accessibility audit.” Outcome facets cut horizontally across roles and platforms — an SEO-performance plugin matters to a content strategist, a frontend engineer, and a project manager at the same time.
Example: seo-performance — methods, audits, and reference pages for shipping a site that meets the Core Web Vitals bar that modern clients expect.
Foundation primitives
Section titled “Foundation primitives”A single optional flag for cross-cutting tools every workflow leans on. Research methodology, document templates, the catalog’s own meta-tooling. If anyone at RBA could use the plugin regardless of role or platform or project, it earns this flag.
Example: research — a deep, citation-driven research skill used by strategists planning an RFP response, engineers vetting a platform choice, and BAs digging into a regulated industry.
Engagement models
Section titled “Engagement models”RBA delivers work through several models. Each benefits from the catalog differently:
| Model | What it is | How RBA Skills helps |
|---|---|---|
| Team Augmentation | RBA team members embed in the client’s team | Skills carry RBA’s quality bar into client environments, regardless of the client’s tooling |
| Co-Delivery | RBA and client teams ship as one unit | Shared skills produce consistent artifacts across both sides of the team |
| Project Delivery | RBA owns the engagement end-to-end | The catalog accelerates every phase from discovery through launch |
| Managed Services | RBA provides ongoing support and optimization | Hooks and runbooks standardize maintenance workflows across clients |
AI as force multiplier, not replacement
Section titled “AI as force multiplier, not replacement”The catalog is a force multiplier on RBA’s expertise, not a substitute for it. A senior PM who has written 50 project briefs can use a skill to draft the 51st in minutes instead of hours, then apply their judgment to refine it. An engineer who has built hundreds of Sitecore components can scaffold the next one instantly and focus on the business logic that actually requires thinking.
That’s the bet. AI is at its best when it operates on top of a well-defined method — and RBA has spent two decades developing well-defined methods. RBA Skills captures those so every team member can deliver work that meets the standard RBA’s clients expect, whether they’ve been at RBA for ten years or ten days.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”- Overview — What RBA Skills is and how to find your way around.
- Install & Use — Connect Claude Code to the marketplace and start invoking plugins.
- AI Governance — Policies and guardrails every RBA employee follows.
- Contributing — Add a method you use to the catalog.
