Module 8: Human Wellness & AI Dependency - DRAFT
Why This Matters
Section titled “Why This Matters”AI tools are designed to be helpful and agreeable. That design:
- Boosts productivity.
- Can quietly erode independent thinking and emotional balance if misused.
Key Risks
Section titled “Key Risks”-
Critical-thinking atrophy
Reliance on AI for answers reduces practice in reasoning. -
Echo-chamber effect
AI tends to agree and reinforce your framing, even when you’re wrong. -
Emotional attachment
Treating AI as a confidant undermines professional distance and judgment. -
Over-reliance
Feeling unable to do basic work without AI is a red flag.
Healthy Usage Patterns
Section titled “Healthy Usage Patterns”- Start complex work with your own thinking; use AI to critique and refine.
- Regularly ask AI: “What could be wrong with this?” or “What’s the strongest counterargument?”
- Maintain human mentoring and peer review as primary feedback channels.
- Set personal guardrails for when and how you use AI.
Employee Self-Check
Section titled “Employee Self-Check”- I can work through key analyses without AI when needed.
- I intentionally ask AI for counterarguments, not just agreement.
- I do not depend on AI for emotional support.
- I would feel comfortable explaining my AI use patterns to a client.
