Connect Claude.ai
The fastest way to use RBA Skills is to not install it.
If you use Claude in your browser at claude.ai, you can wire the entire RBA Skills catalog into your conversations as a custom connector. It takes about a minute. You never touch a terminal, a git repo, or a config file. Once it’s connected, you can ask Claude things like “Which RBA skills cover Sitecore migrations?” or “Give me the methodology from the SEO skill” — and Claude pulls the answer straight from this catalog while you’re talking to it.
This is the path we recommend for anyone who doesn’t write code day-to-day — strategists, designers, PMs, BAs, security analysts, account leads. You get most of the value of RBA Skills without learning any new tools.
Why this is the easy path
Section titled “Why this is the easy path”RBA Skills exists in two shapes. The full install path (claude plugin marketplace add ...) is great if you live inside Claude Code. But if you mostly use Claude in a browser tab between meetings, that install path is overkill — you’d be setting up a developer toolchain to read a catalog.
The connector skips all of that. Behind the scenes it’s an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server hosted at https://rba-skills.tylerschroeder.net/api/mcp. Claude.ai already knows how to talk to MCP servers natively. You add the URL once, and four catalog tools (search_catalog, list_section, get_plugin, get_artifact) become available to Claude in every chat.
You don’t need to know any of that to use it. You just paste the URL.
60-second setup
Section titled “60-second setup”You’ll need a Claude.ai account (the free tier works) and a browser. That’s it.
- Open Claude.ai and sign in at claude.ai.
- Click your profile (bottom-left corner) and choose Settings.
- Go to Connectors in the settings sidebar.
- Click Add custom connector at the top right of the Connectors panel.
- Fill in the form:
- Name:
RBA Skills(or anything you’ll recognize later) - Server URL:
https://rba-skills.tylerschroeder.net/api/mcp - Authentication: Leave empty. RBA Skills is public.
- Name:
- Click Save. The connector now appears in your Connectors list with a green dot.
- Open a new chat. Click the tool icon (paperclip / plus, depending on your Claude.ai version) and confirm RBA Skills is toggled on.
That’s it. You’re connected.
What you can ask once it’s connected
Section titled “What you can ask once it’s connected”The connector exposes the catalog as four tools Claude can call mid-conversation. You don’t have to call them by name — just ask in plain English. Here’s the shape of what works well:
Discovery — “what’s in the catalog?”
“What RBA skills do we have for SEO and performance work?”
“List every plugin tagged ‘governance’.”
“Are there any agents that review accessibility?”
Methodology — “how does RBA do this?”
“Pull the full methodology from the
accessibilityskill — I want to understand how RBA approaches a WCAG audit.”“Give me the SKILL.md content for the SEO-performance skill so I can adapt it for a client pitch.”
Triage — “should I use this?”
“What does the
researchplugin actually include? Show me the README and every artifact.”“Compare the
business-analysisandproject-managementplugins — what’s the difference?”
Cross-reference — “what fits this situation?”
“I’m starting a Sitecore content modeling engagement. Which skills, agents, or resources should I look at?”
The connector returns the actual content from this site, not a paraphrase. When Claude shows you a methodology, that’s the same SKILL.md a developer would install. You can copy it into a brief, paste it into another AI tool, or just use Claude.ai to walk you through it.
When you’ll want the full install instead
Section titled “When you’ll want the full install instead”There are a few cases where you’ll outgrow the connector and want the Claude Code install path:
- You want skills to run automatically as part of your coding sessions (the connector is for conversation; the install is for execution).
- You want hooks that intercept tool calls in Claude Code — those only work when the plugin is installed locally.
- You’re building or contributing a plugin and need to test it against your own changes.
If you get to that point, head to Install & Use for the marketplace flow. Until then, the connector covers the majority of what people use RBA Skills for.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The connector saved but I don’t see any tools in chat. Refresh Claude.ai. Some browsers cache the tool list. If it still doesn’t show, open the chat’s tool picker and confirm RBA Skills is toggled on for that conversation.
Claude doesn’t call the connector when I ask. Be explicit the first time: “Use the RBA Skills connector to …” Once Claude has seen a successful call, it’ll reach for the tools on its own in later prompts.
I get errors when Claude tries the tools. The server may be cold-starting. Wait ten seconds and ask again. If it keeps failing, the connector page in Settings shows the last error — note the message and report it on the hub repo.
My company’s Claude.ai tenant doesn’t show Add custom connector. Some enterprise plans restrict custom connectors. Ask your Claude.ai admin to enable them, or use the Claude Code install path instead — that path doesn’t need any tenant configuration.
What’s actually happening behind the URL
Section titled “What’s actually happening behind the URL”If you’re curious — the connector is the rba-hub-mcp plugin in this catalog. It’s a Model Context Protocol server deployed alongside the public site. Every tool call hits the same data the site renders, so the catalog you query is always in lockstep with what you see in your browser.
See the rba-hub-mcp plugin page for the technical specs, tool signatures, and source. You don’t need any of it to use the connector — but it’s there if you want to know how the magic works.
