Install
Pick the surface you use. Plugins run inside Claude Code, which is available in the terminal CLI, the desktop app on Mac and Windows, the web app at claude.ai/code, and the VS Code and JetBrains extensions. The slash commands are identical on every surface.
From inside any Claude Code session — terminal, desktop app, web app, or IDE extension:
-
Add the RBA Skills marketplace (only needed once per machine):
/plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin -
Install onboarding-generator:
/plugin install onboarding-generator@rba-ai-hub -
Activate it without restarting:
/reload-plugins
Prefer to browse and click? Run /plugin inside Claude Code to open the interactive plugin manager. It looks the same in the desktop app, web app, terminal, and IDE extensions.
-
Open the plugin manager:
/plugin - Press Tab to reach Marketplaces, choose Add, then enter
rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin. - Press Tab again to Discover. Search for
onboarding-generator, press Enter, and pick a scope (User, Project, or Local). - Run
/reload-pluginsto activate it.
If you have the Claude Code CLI installed and want to drive it from a normal shell prompt:
$ claude plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin
$ claude plugin install onboarding-generator@rba-ai-hub The next Claude Code session loads it automatically.
Overview
Onboarding Generator
RBA Consulting's onboarding and ramp-up toolkit for digital experience engagements. This plugin generates role-specific project onboarding guides, stack ramp-up paths, and skills audits directly from repo context — CLAUDE.md, installed plugin manifests, CI/CD config, IaC files, and recent git history — so a new joiner or a team joining mid-flight hits the ground running.
Every RBA engagement runs a bespoke stack: Sitecore XM Cloud, Umbraco, Optimizely, or a composable MACH combination, all hosted on Azure and shipped via Azure DevOps. Each role — engineer, BA, QA, content editor — needs a different ramp-up path. The Onboarding Generator reads the repo and produces the right guide for the right person, without the delivery lead spending a sprint writing it by hand.
What's inside
| Artifact | Purpose |
|---|---|
generate-project-onboarding skill |
Full-depth project onboarding document from repo context. Detects platform and CI/CD pattern, then produces role-appropriate sections: access checklist, environment setup, architecture overview, contribution workflow, common tasks, and troubleshooting. Supports developer, BA, QA, content editor, and client-handover audiences. |
stack-ramp-guide skill |
Targeted self-study ramp-up path for a specific technology in the project stack (e.g. Sitecore XM Cloud headless, Umbraco 13 + Delivery API, Azure Container Apps, Coveo search). Produces a curated learning sequence with official docs, RBA-relevant patterns, and hands-on exercises — not a generic reading list. |
role-ramp-path skill |
Generates a sprint-by-sprint ramp plan for a new team member joining an in-flight project. Maps the project's current backlog, installed skills, and sprint cadence to a personalised "first 30 days" schedule covering shadow work, first solo tasks, and ownership milestones. |
skills-audit skill |
Audits the installed Claude Code skills and plugin catalog against the project's actual delivery needs. Identifies gaps (skills that would accelerate delivery but aren't installed), redundancy (overlapping skills), and mis-configuration (skills granted too-broad permissions). Produces a prioritised install recommendation. |
onboarding-reviewer agent |
Subagent that validates a generated or hand-authored onboarding document for completeness, accuracy, and security hygiene. Flags missing sections, stale commands, and any credential leakage before the doc goes to a new joiner. |
/onboard command |
Guided entry-point slash command. Asks what role and project you're onboarding, then dispatches to the right skill with the right context. |
When to use
- Project kick-off — generate the developer onboarding guide the moment the repo and CI/CD are in place; keep it current from day one
- New hire or contractor joins — run
role-ramp-pathto produce a sprint-by-sprint ramp plan tailored to their role and the project's current state - Mid-engagement staff change — run
generate-project-onboardingto refresh the guide when the stack has evolved since it was last authored - Client handover — run
generate-project-onboardingwithaudience: clientto produce the access inventory, platform overview, and escalation guide for the client's internal team - Skills / tooling review — run
skills-auditwhen a project delivery lead suspects the team isn't leveraging the full RBA skill catalog, or before a new sprint cycle - Self-directed learning — run
stack-ramp-guidewhen an engineer picks up a technology that's new to them (Sitecore, Umbraco, Coveo, etc.) in the middle of a project
Platform adapters
All skills produce platform-agnostic documentation with named adapter sections for:
- Sitecore XM Cloud — SaaS headless CMS; guides cover Sitecore Cloud Portal, Sitecore Pages, Edge CDN, CDP/Personalize, and XM Cloud Deploy
- Optimizely CMS — Content Graph, A/B experimentation, CMS SaaS, and commerce; guides reference Graph endpoints and CMS SaaS multi-environment patterns
- Umbraco Cloud / Umbraco 13 — Open-source .NET CMS; guides cover Umbraco Deploy, the Delivery API, Umbraco Cloud environment tiers, and CI pipeline conventions
- Azure — The RBA default cloud; guides default to Azure App Service, Azure Container Apps, Azure Front Door, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Azure DevOps pipelines
- MACH / composable stacks — Any combination of best-of-breed services (Coveo, Contentful, Commercetools, Dynamics 365, etc.); ramp guides adapt to the services in scope
How to install
claude plugin install onboarding-generator@rba-ai-hub
After installation, use the guided entry point:
/onboard
Or invoke any skill directly:
/generate-project-onboarding "developer onboarding for ACME Sitecore XM Cloud project"
/stack-ramp-guide "Sitecore XM Cloud headless for a .NET developer new to Sitecore"
/role-ramp-path "BA joining ACME project in sprint 4"
/skills-audit
Tools and permissions
Skills in this plugin require read access to the repo (file reads, git history, Glob patterns) and write access to produce Markdown deliverables. No cloud credentials, secret values, or destructive operations are performed. The generate-project-onboarding skill reads .env.example or appsettings.json for environment variable names only — never values.
Bundled artifacts
Skills
- generate-project-onboarding — Generates a full-depth project onboarding document from repo context — reads CLAUDE.md, installed plugin manifests, CI/CD config, IaC files, environment variable templates, and git history to produce a role-specific Markdown guide covering access, environment setup, architecture, contribution workflow, common tasks, and troubleshooting. Supports developer, BA, QA, content-editor, and client-handover audiences. Use at project kick-off, when a new team member joins, or to refresh a stale guide before client handover.
- role-ramp-path — Generates a sprint-by-sprint "first 30 days" ramp plan for a new team member joining an in-flight RBA DXP project. Reads the current backlog, installed skills, active sprint, branching history, and project conventions to produce a personalised schedule covering shadow work, first solo tasks, and ownership milestones. Produces a Markdown ramp plan with weekly goals, specific tickets to shadow or own, and skill checkpoints. Use when a new hire, contractor, or transferred team member joins a project mid-flight.
- skills-audit — Audits the installed Claude Code skills and plugin catalog against the project's actual delivery needs. Reads the current plugin manifests, CLAUDE.md, and recent git history to identify: gaps (skills that would accelerate delivery but aren't installed), redundancy (overlapping skills that could be rationalised), and mis-configuration (skills granted too-broad tool permissions). Produces a prioritised install recommendation with rationale and least-privilege tool guidance. Run before a new sprint cycle or when adding a new team member.
- stack-ramp-guide — Generates a targeted self-study ramp-up path for a specific technology in the project stack (e.g. Sitecore XM Cloud headless, Umbraco 13 + Delivery API, Azure Container Apps, Coveo Atomic). Produces a curated, sequenced learning plan — official docs, RBA-relevant patterns, hands-on exercises, and validation checkpoints — tuned to what is actually in use on the project. Not a generic reading list; each step builds on the last and connects directly to the project codebase. Use when an engineer picks up an unfamiliar technology mid-engagement.
Agents
- onboarding-reviewer — Subagent that validates a generated or hand-authored onboarding document (ONBOARDING-*.md, RAMP-*.md, RAMP-PATH-*.md) against RBA's standards: structural completeness, factual accuracy relative to the codebase, security hygiene (no secrets or credentials), and command validity. Invoke after any onboarding skill run, or directly on an onboarding doc before it goes to a new joiner or is committed to the repo.
Slash Commands
- /onboard — Guided entry-point for the onboarding-generator plugin. Asks what role and project context you're working with, then dispatches to the right onboarding skill. Covers: full project onboarding guides, technology-specific ramp paths, sprint-by-sprint role ramp plans, and skills audits. Also chains the onboarding-reviewer agent post-generation.
