performance-auditor
Install
Pick the surface you use. Plugins run inside Claude Code, which is available in the terminal CLI, the desktop app on Mac and Windows, the web app at claude.ai/code, and the VS Code and JetBrains extensions. The slash commands are identical on every surface.
From inside any Claude Code session — terminal, desktop app, web app, or IDE extension:
-
Add the RBA Skills marketplace (only needed once per machine):
/plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin -
Install performance-auditor:
/plugin install performance-auditor@rba-ai-hub -
Activate it without restarting:
/reload-plugins
Prefer to browse and click? Run /plugin inside Claude Code to open the interactive plugin manager. It looks the same in the desktop app, web app, terminal, and IDE extensions.
-
Open the plugin manager:
/plugin - Press Tab to reach Marketplaces, choose Add, then enter
rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin. - Press Tab again to Discover. Search for
performance-auditor, press Enter, and pick a scope (User, Project, or Local). - Run
/reload-pluginsto activate it.
If you have the Claude Code CLI installed and want to drive it from a normal shell prompt:
$ claude plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin
$ claude plugin install performance-auditor@rba-ai-hub The next Claude Code session loads it automatically.
Overview
Performance Auditor
End-to-end web performance tooling for RBA digital experience projects. This plugin covers every phase of the performance improvement cycle: field-data baseline, Lighthouse analysis, root-cause diagnosis, caching review, and a sprint-ready backlog. It targets the metric thresholds Google uses to evaluate Page Experience — LCP ≤ 2.5 s, INP ≤ 200 ms, CLS ≤ 0.1 at the 75th-percentile — and produces concrete code-level fixes, not abstract recommendations.
The skills adapt to every platform RBA ships: Sitecore XM Cloud / JSS, Optimizely Content Cloud, Umbraco, and headless/composable front-ends on Azure. They also understand the .NET API and Azure CDN / Azure Front Door caching patterns that sit behind those CMSes.

When to use this plugin
- Before a go-live: Run
perf-revieweragainst the staging URL to catch regressions before they reach production. - During a sprint: Use
perf-cwv-auditon individual page templates as they are built. - For a client deliverable: Use
perf-backlog-builderto turn an audit report into Azure DevOps epics/stories. - Setting up a new project: Use
perf-budget-enforcementto wire Lighthouse CI into GitHub Actions so regressions are blocked at the PR level. - Diagnosing a live regression: Use
perf-caching-review+perf-render-blocking-analysisagainst the production origin to find the culprit.
How to install
claude plugin install performance-auditor@rba-ai-hub
Once installed, all six skills and the slash command are available in any project directory.
Platform coverage
| Platform | Specific patterns covered |
|---|---|
| Sitecore XM Cloud / JSS | JSS hydration LCP, Sitecore output cache TTLs, XM Cloud CDN rules, SXA Media Library image delivery |
| Optimizely Content Cloud | DXP CDN cache rules, block rendering waterfalls, Optimizely CDN header configuration |
| Umbraco | Umbraco output cache, ImageSharp pipeline, Redis cache, Examine index warm-up |
| Azure CDN / Front Door | Cache rules, origin shield, compression, WAF bypass for API endpoints |
| Next.js / React (headless) | RSC/ISR/SSG render strategy, bundle splitting, <Image> / <Script> discipline |
| .NET / ASP.NET Core | Async/await discipline, EF Core N+1, IMemoryCache / IDistributedCache patterns |
CWV thresholds (as of 2026)
| Metric | Good | Needs Improvement | Poor |
|---|---|---|---|
| LCP | ≤ 2.5 s | 2.5 – 4.0 s | > 4.0 s |
| INP | ≤ 200 ms | 200 – 500 ms | > 500 ms |
| CLS | ≤ 0.1 | 0.1 – 0.25 | > 0.25 |
Google evaluates at the 75th percentile of real-user sessions. All three must be "good" for a page to pass the Page Experience signal.
Bundled artifacts
Skills
- perf-asset-optimisation — Comprehensive image, video, font, and static-asset review for RBA DX projects. Checks format selection (WebP/AVIF), compression, responsive srcset, lazy loading, CLS-safe sizing, and delivery pipeline configuration for Sitecore Media Library, Umbraco ImageSharp, Optimizely DXP media, and Next.js Image. Produces findings with estimated LCP/CLS impact and code-level fixes for each asset type.
- perf-backlog-builder — Convert any performance audit report (from perf-cwv-audit, perf-caching-review, perf-render-blocking-analysis, or perf-asset-optimisation) into a prioritised, sprint-ready backlog. Groups findings by impact and component, estimates effort, assigns owner (engineering/design/devops/content), and produces Azure DevOps work items or Jira stories with acceptance criteria tied to specific CWV thresholds. Includes a quick-win list and a governance epic for CI budget enforcement setup.
- perf-budget-enforcement — Define, encode, and enforce web performance budgets in CI. Generates a Lighthouse CI configuration (lighthouserc.json) with CWV assertion thresholds, a GitHub Actions workflow that runs LHCI on every pull request, and performance budget config for bundle-size checks (bundlesize / size-limit). Produces a PR comment with metric comparisons against the baseline. Targets Azure DevOps pipelines as an alternative output format.
- perf-caching-review — HTTP cache-header audit across CDN, CMS output cache, .NET API layer, and browser cache. Inspects Cache-Control, ETag, Vary, and CDN-specific headers on origin responses. Maps each resource type to the correct caching strategy and identifies gaps that force unnecessary origin hits. Covers Azure CDN, Azure Front Door, Sitecore output cache, Optimizely DXP CDN, and Umbraco output/Redis caching.
- perf-cwv-audit — Full Lighthouse + CrUX audit for Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS). Combines automated Lighthouse scores with field data from Chrome User Experience Report, diagnoses root causes per metric, and produces a severity-ranked finding report with estimated impact deltas. Adapts analysis for Sitecore XM Cloud, Optimizely Content Cloud, Umbraco, and headless/composable stacks on Azure.
- perf-render-blocking-analysis — Deep-dive analysis of render-blocking CSS, JavaScript, and font resources that delay First Contentful Paint and Largest Contentful Paint. Examines <head> resource order, async/defer discipline, critical CSS coverage, font preloading, and third-party script loading strategies. Produces prioritised fixes with estimated FCP/LCP savings. Platform-aware for Sitecore, Optimizely, Umbraco, and Next.js.
Agents
- perf-reviewer — Orchestrating subagent that runs all five performance audit skills in sequence against a URL or project directory, consolidates their findings into a single prioritised report, and then invokes perf-backlog-builder to produce sprint-ready work items. Use for full pre-go-live audits or quarterly performance health checks.
Slash Commands
- /perf-audit — Entry-point slash command for the Performance Auditor plugin. Routes to the appropriate skill(s) based on the scope argument. Without a scope, runs a quick CWV audit. With --full, invokes all skills in sequence via the perf-reviewer agent.
