discovery-synthesizer
Install
Pick the surface you use. Plugins run inside Claude Code, which is available in the terminal CLI, the desktop app on Mac and Windows, the web app at claude.ai/code, and the VS Code and JetBrains extensions. The slash commands are identical on every surface.
From inside any Claude Code session — terminal, desktop app, web app, or IDE extension:
-
Add the RBA Skills marketplace (only needed once per machine):
/plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin -
Install discovery-synthesizer:
/plugin install discovery-synthesizer@rba-ai-hub -
Activate it without restarting:
/reload-plugins
Prefer to browse and click? Run /plugin inside Claude Code to open the interactive plugin manager. It looks the same in the desktop app, web app, terminal, and IDE extensions.
-
Open the plugin manager:
/plugin - Press Tab to reach Marketplaces, choose Add, then enter
rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin. - Press Tab again to Discover. Search for
discovery-synthesizer, press Enter, and pick a scope (User, Project, or Local). - Run
/reload-pluginsto activate it.
If you have the Claude Code CLI installed and want to drive it from a normal shell prompt:
$ claude plugin marketplace add rbaconsulting/rba-skills-plugin
$ claude plugin install discovery-synthesizer@rba-ai-hub The next Claude Code session loads it automatically.
Overview
Discovery Synthesizer
Turns raw discovery material — interview transcripts, workshop notes, survey responses, observation logs — into structured, client-ready artifacts. Designed for RBA's strategy and business-analysis practitioners running pre-envision, platform-selection, and experience-design engagements across Sitecore, Optimizely, Umbraco, and composable DXP stacks.
What's in the bundle
| Artifact | What it does |
|---|---|
discovery-interview-synthesis skill |
Transcribe → clean → code → theme → synthesize multi-participant qualitative data into an insights report with direct quotes, confidence ratings, and recommended design implications |
stakeholder-map skill |
Build a structured stakeholder register with influence/interest placement, engagement strategy, and communication cadence recommendations |
five-whys-root-cause skill |
Facilitate structured Five Whys chains from a stated problem; surface root causes, validate with evidence, and produce a fishbone-style cause tree |
persona-draft skill |
Draft research-grounded personas from synthesized data using a JTBD (Jobs-to-be-Done) backbone — not demographic placeholders |
requirements-workshop skill |
Convert discovery insights into a structured requirements register; apply MoSCoW prioritization, draft acceptance criteria, and flag dependency or conflict risks |
discovery-synthesizer-review agent |
Sub-agent that does an independent critical review of any discovery deliverable — checks evidence grounding, logical leaps, and presentation-readiness |
/synthesize command |
Entry-point shortcut that routes to the right skill based on what you hand it |
When to use
- You have raw notes, transcripts, or workshop outputs and need to move fast to a structured client deliverable
- You are running a pre-envision or requirements-gathering phase for a DXP implementation (Sitecore, Optimizely, Umbraco, or composable)
- You need to reconcile conflicting stakeholder input into a defensible, evidence-backed synthesis
- You want to move from "what people said" to "what the platform needs to do" without losing the original signal
Platform adapter note
Every skill in this bundle is platform-agnostic. Where platform-specific considerations arise (e.g., Sitecore Experience Manager vs. XM Cloud content architecture implications on requirements), the skills surface those as flagged notes rather than hardcoding a single platform's model.
How to install
claude plugin install discovery-synthesizer@rba-ai-hub
After install, the skills appear in /skills/, the agent in /agents/, and the /synthesize command is available immediately.
Permissions required
Skills in this bundle read files you provide (transcripts, notes). No network access is needed for most workflows. The discovery-interview-synthesis skill may request WebFetch access only if you supply a URL to a hosted transcript; all other operations are local file reads and writes.
Composing with other plugins

Skills
- discovery-interview-synthesis — Synthesizes raw discovery material — interview transcripts, workshop notes, survey responses, or observation logs — into a structured insights report ready for client review. Apply when the user pastes or references interview transcripts, workshop notes, survey data, or stakeholder session outputs and asks to synthesize, analyze, theme, or report on them. Also applies when the user says "turn these notes into insights", "what themes came up across interviews", "write up the discovery", or "pull findings from these sessions". Works across CMS/DXP platform-selection, experience-design, and digital-strategy engagements. Skip when the user wants only a stakeholder map (use stakeholder-map), a root-cause chain (use five-whys-root-cause), or a persona (use persona-draft).
- persona-draft — Drafts research-grounded personas from synthesized discovery data using a Jobs-to-be-Done backbone. Apply when the user has discovery data (interview synthesis, themes, quotes) and wants to produce audience personas, user archetypes, or content author profiles. Also applies when the user says "write a persona for", "create audience segments", "who are our users", or "draft an author persona". Produces JTBD-first personas, not demographic placeholders. Skip when the user has no discovery data and wants entirely hypothetical personas — ask for research input first.
- requirements-workshop — Converts discovery insights, interview themes, and workshop outputs into a structured requirements register with MoSCoW prioritization and acceptance-criteria stubs. Apply when the user has discovery findings and wants to produce requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, or a prioritized feature list for a DXP or CMS implementation. Also applies to "help me turn these findings into requirements", "write user stories from our discovery", "prioritize the requirements", or "build a requirements register". Skip when the user is still in the synthesis phase (use discovery-interview-synthesis first) or when requirements already exist and need only refinement (edit them directly).
- stakeholder-map — Builds a structured stakeholder register and engagement plan from names, roles, or interview notes provided by the user. Apply when the user asks to map stakeholders, build a RACI, plan stakeholder engagement, identify who needs to be involved, or assess influence and interest across a project. Works for CMS/DXP implementations, platform-selection engagements, and digital-strategy workshops. Skip when the user wants raw interview synthesis (use discovery-interview-synthesis) or root-cause analysis (use five-whys-root-cause).
- five-whys-root-cause — Facilitates a structured Five Whys root-cause analysis from a stated problem. Apply when the user describes a problem, pain point, or failure mode and wants to find the root cause — especially in digital-experience, content-operations, or platform-performance contexts. Also applies when the user asks to run a root-cause analysis, build a fishbone diagram, understand why something keeps happening, or trace a symptom back to its source. Skip when the user wants a synthesis of interview themes (use discovery-interview-synthesis) or stakeholder mapping (use stakeholder-map).
Agents
- discovery-synthesizer-review — Independent critical reviewer for discovery deliverables produced by the discovery-synthesizer plugin. Invoke after producing an insights report, stakeholder map, persona set, Five Whys chain, or requirements register to check evidence grounding, logical leaps, presentation-readiness, and RBA quality standards before client or internal review.
Slash Commands
- /synthesize — Entry-point shortcut for the discovery-synthesizer plugin. Routes to the right skill based on what you hand it — interview transcripts, stakeholder lists, a problem statement, persona data, or discovery findings for requirements. Run with no arguments for a guided intake prompt.
