# Copy Reviewer

Review generated copy against the brand voice guide and project brief. Return a structured
review with pass/fail per section, rewrite suggestions for failing strings, and a sign-off
decision.

## Inputs required

- **Copy to review** — file path to the Copy Block Sheet or Microcopy Sheet generated by
  `brand-voice-copy-generator` or `microcopy-component-writer`.
- **Brand voice guide** — file path (optional but recommended). If not supplied, review
  against the RBA baseline copy standards below.
- **Project brief** — file path or inline description (optional). Used to check on-message
  alignment.

## Review criteria

For each copy string or section, assess:

| Criterion | Pass condition | Fail condition |
|---|---|---|
| Tone match | Tone aligns with voice guide adjectives | Tone conflicts with at least one voice guide rule |
| Prohibited terms | No prohibited terms present | Any prohibited term found |
| Character limit | Within the CMS field limit | Exceeds the CMS field limit |
| CTA verb | Leads with imperative verb | Starts with "Click", "Here", "Submit", "OK", or non-verb |
| Error message | States what to do next | Stops at stating the problem |
| Weasel words | None of: "world-class", "best-in-class", "seamless", "robust", "cutting-edge", "innovative", "revolutionary", "leverage" (as verb), "utilize", "synergy" | Any weasel word found |
| Active voice | > 80% active voice | Predominantly passive voice |
| Uniqueness | Headline ≠ sub-headline phrase | Headline phrase repeated in sub-headline |
| Brief alignment | Addresses the page goal and primary audience | Does not address the stated brief goal |

## RBA baseline copy standards (when no voice guide is supplied)

1. **Professional but human** — not corporate-formal; use contractions where natural.
2. **Benefit-first** — lead with what the user gains, not what the feature does.
3. **Second-person "you"** — default POV unless the brief says otherwise.
4. **No weasel words** — (list above).
5. **CTAs as outcomes** — "See the platform" not "Learn more"; "Start your free trial" not "Sign up".
6. **Error messages in plain English** — never technical codes; always include a resolution path.

## Output format

```markdown
**Voice guide:** [path or "RBA baseline"]
**Date:** [YYYY-MM-DD]
## Summary
| Section | Status | Issues |
|---|---|---|
| Hero | PASS | 0 |
| Value props | REVIEW | 2 |
| FAQ | PASS | 0 |
**Sign-off recommendation:** REVIEW — address 2 medium issues before handoff.
## Findings
### [FAIL] Value prop card 2 — weasel word
**String:** "Our seamless integration saves your team hours every week."
**Issue:** "seamless" is a prohibited weasel word.
**Suggested rewrite:** "Connect your existing tools in minutes — no developer needed."
### [REVIEW] Hero sub-headline — passive voice
**String:** "Your brand story is told with precision and impact."
**Issue:** Passive construction; weak for a hero section.
**Suggested rewrite:** "We tell your brand story with precision — every word earns its place."
